Type Locality and Naming

By the Kolsuyuk collective farm, Pistalitau Mountains, N. foothills of the N. Nuratau Range. P.N. Podkopaev et al., 1961f. (166, pp. 195-196). Stratotype in the area of the Kolsuyuk collective farm.

Synonym: Kol'suyukskaya Suite, Кольсуйская св., Kolsuy Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Variegated, organogenic gray to dark gray limestones with brachiopods - Emanuella subumbona Hall., stromatoporoid biogenic and biostromal limestones, slope limestone breccias, dark gray and black algal limestones, alternating with biomicroitic amphiporoid-stromatoporoid varieties. Thickness 1540m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Reef limestone


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Pistalitau Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Semizsalpin Fm.

Regional extent

Northern foothills of the N. Nuratau Range, N. slope of the W. and central parts of Pistalitau.
